Course Aims & Outline
From the blank page to the stage...

This course will give you space to write &/or perform comedy – with input & workshops from a professional comedian – who will help get your gags onto the stage; whether it’s your sitcom or you under the spotlight.

Sarah's workshops will cover the journey from writer to performer - with equal stress on both disciplines including work on the genesis of ideas, structure, editing and the technical aspects of writing and editing a 'stand-up' set ! There will also be performances by anyone willing to try stand-up and readings of material produced during the course (this is obviously optional).

Stand-up.
After years of putting the pen through it’s paces Sarah has been performing stand-up and winning awards for it. She is perfectly placed to tutor you in the skills of joke telling and delivering gags. Our stand-up workshops will give you the whole comedy kitbag in performing and preparing material. Sarah's course will cover all aspects of performing and preparing material - and tips on getting booked !

"day one I was looking at a blank piece of paper... I hadn't picked up a pen since school... 3 days later I was doing a set-not just a one-liner but a whole set; my first audience with laughter..."

Write funny.

Sarah has been writing for ten years. Her workshops will show you how to ‘find’ material and most importantly how to work with it and structure it. Sarah will be talking about her ‘playwriting’ and her move from purely writing into stand-up. Sarah will be giving you the skills to get off the page and onto the stage.
